Today is the Day

The world is drab and grey today,
But there's colours yet to see my friend,
As you sit staring through your window pane,
With eyes that see no end.

But have you listened to the wind today?
It's telling you to move,
To take yourself to the tree my friend,
To feel its bark, its dips and grooves.

To see the depths and shadows of green today,
That's there, in the canopy above,
Divided by the sky between,
To sheild you from the sun.

And have you smelt the fresh cut grass today?
Or the wild flowers in between,
That wish to draw you down the path again,
Towards your favourite climbing tree.

To see it standing against the sky today,
Eminating patience, strength and peace,
Strong arms held out wide for you to play,
In the sky where the birds sleep.

And have you touched the dew dressed ground today?
To feel its coolness damp your hands,
Or felt the summer raindrops slide away,
As you make your way back to his lands.

To see him rooted to the spot today,
Standing steady, he always is,
Ready to hold you above the ground again,
Listening to your heart in a way thats only his.

So open up your eyes my friend,
Your life is waiting to begin,
For today's the day for you my friend,
To see the colours creep back in.
